Locksmiths in Brisbane

Locksmiths in Brisbane

The Locksmith’s Trade is of  Greater Significance

When did you see a person with a huge bunch of heavy keys? Perhaps such things belong to museums now with all the automatic doors around us and the keyless locks that have become ingrained in the modern psyche. Yet somewhere deep within a few locks and keys stir the memory, maybe of times gone past when the traditional lock was still in vogue as they still are in many parts of the world today.

With all the sweeping changes taking place in trendy thinking and language practice, does that term ‘locksmith’ exist any longer is the big question. Well, the essentials of safe keeping do exist. Fortifying a residential building from burglars or the bank safes, businesses of a million colors, health centers, educational institutions and fitness clubs, too many entities in fact need safety services. Thus Brisbane locksmiths remain busy 24/7unlike the idea that locks and locksmiths are a dying breed.

While it is true that the traditional heavy metal locks are gradually phasing out in favor of more advanced technology like computerized locking systems, the same crucial question remains. Whether it is a manually operated car door or a centralized locking system, the purpose and the justification remain quite the same. Time and styles have changed a hundred fold yet universal values continue to rule our hearts.

Locksmith Brisbane serivces fixing door lock and opening locked doorLocks function more significantly than ever nowadays with the steady rise of crime in almost every part of the globe. While law enforcement agencies sweat it out, locksmiths are called out often to the job, sometimes in the dreaded night. What happens when keys are misplaced or lost as happens every now and then? Breaking locks to gain illegal entry is the first thing that happens everywhere! The functions of the locksmith then involve a lot more than making locks and keys. Repairs and duplicate keys, fortification systems to prevent malpractice, supervision of work to adhere to standards, manipulating designs to avoid forgery, working to specifications- locksmiths have a lot to do certainly.

Just remember that each part of the house, office, factory or sensitive administrative building has its own security system, whether quaint or digitally advanced. Whether the old fashioned key opens the door, a combination of numbers or a card swipe, the purpose remains essentially the same.

Where would the world be without all those safety devices? Though the term ‘locksmith’ continues to be used, the meaning has changed over the centuries to accommodate a range of sophisticated security devices that continue to advance technologically. Look at the security features in your own home and how dependent we have become each day in the search for a peaceful productive life of ethics, values and intimate concerns.

Locksmith or SEO Company

Locksmith or SEO Company

SEO Website builders working as locksmiths

SEO Locksmiths

If you find a locksmith on Google, chances are that you are not actually on a Locksmith’s web site.  It’s getting hard to tell which web sites are real locksmiths and which are fake in Brisbane.  The fake locksmiths seem to have much more spare time on their hands to push their websites to the front of the Google rankings and to advertise on Google Adwords as real locksmiths are too busy out working.

Some of the fake locksmiths sites even have the same telephone numbers as the SEO companies that built the sites. So you call a locksmith and you get an SEO company employee on the phone pretending to be a locksmith. Doesn’t sound right does it? Oh but it gets better!! Some of these SEO company employees are actually posing as real locksmiths and performing on-site service work!! I can imagine an SEO company employee giving security advice or fitting a lock to someone’s door.

Other problems with fake locksmiths I hear all the time is Bait and Switch fraud. That is when they advertise a low price for a service such as unlocking a door, then charge more when they are finished the job or sell the product. If you see a price that is too good to be true, then it probably is! Often times a fake locksmith wont be able to pick your lock if you have locked the keys inside and they will drill the lock open or break the lock. That will end up costing you way more then you were quoted. If a fake locksmith is called to change your locks, often times the locks will be damaged and multiple keys will work in the locks, which makes them insecure and easy for thieves to open the locks.

If someone who is not a locksmith is injured or property damaged, or the advice they give causes you to be broken into, do you think your insurance will be valid? A locksmith is a trade like an Electrician or a Plumber. You need a trade certificate to call yourself a locksmith. There are also laws and regulations regarding who can do the work of a locksmith. There is also a security providers and security advisors act which makes SEO companies sending out fake locksmiths to perform work against the law! Unless they have gained the true qualifications of a locksmith.

So how do you tell who is a real true locksmith and who is not? Simple! Ask to see a copy of their trade certificate. Every locksmith should be able to show you their trade certificate. If they haven’t got a trade certificate, then they are not a locksmith, even if it says LOCKSMITH on their shirt pocket.

If you find you have been dealing with a locksmith who is not truly a locksmith, then I would suggest you contact the Department of Fair Trading in Queensland. They are responsible for false advertising breaches and upholding the Security Providers Act.

Kangaroo Point Unlock Door

Kangaroo Point Unlock Door

Another door opened at Kangaroo Point

Other locksmiths in Brisbane who do emergency locksmith work at Kangaroo Point would understand that it is a suburb of Brisbane that is rather special in many ways. One way that Kangaroo Point is special is that it has a lot of upmarket units. By upmarket, I mean they are generally a bit more luxurious and many are in high rise buildings. Kangaroo Point might be a great place to live because it is close to the city, but it is also easy to lock the keys inside the apartment.

It is easier to lock your keys inside your apartment at Kangaroo Point because most doors are fire doors. The fire doors need a door closer to make sure the door closes but the door closer also makes it easier for the door to close and for people to lock themselves outside of the apartment.

Kangaroo Point door with lockwood deadlatch. 24 hour locksmtihs can pick these locks and unlock the door

Because of the fire door regulations at Kangaroo Point most apartment doors have the same type of deadlock or deadlatch installed on the door. The extra lock is usually always a Lockwood 001 deadlatch. The Lockwood 001 deadlock has for quite some time now come out of the packet with a higher security lock cylinder which Lockwood Australia calls “Kinetic Defence” The Lockwood 001 Deadlatch with Kinetic Defence cylinder is very different to “pick” open, then the older Lockwood locks. It requires a very different lock picking technique and old lock picking skills need to be upgraded. The Lockwood Kinetic Defence cylinders are also very hard to open with a bump key.

Lockwood Australia did a great job in making their locks harder to open. Well, lets face it, it is a lock manufacturers job to make their locks hard to open by any other means except the key.

The problem with locking yourself out of a Lockwood 001 deadlatch at Kangaroo point is that many locksmiths in Brisbane still do not know how to open these locks without forcing or drilling the lock open. You cant blame the locksmith, these locks are hard to pick open if you haven’t put the time into learning the skills required to open them. At 24 Hour Locksmith Brisbane one of the biggest part of our job is to know how to open locked doors. Our locksmiths are trained and taught how to open Lockwood Kinetic Defence locks which are on many doors at Kangaroo Point.

There is a buzz you get each time you open a door for a customer. Weather the lock is picked open or opened by other means, it is always our aim to open locks without any damage to the door or the lock. Every time a New Lockwood 001 Kinetic Defence deadlock is opened our locksmith Kangaroo Point gives us great satisfaction to know the hard work and training given to our locksmiths is paying off and our customers are benefiting in what seems to them to be a fast and easy door opening.
